Jerilee, freezing for later replacement of the supers back on the hives will be a fine approach.

Or you could treat with OAV, which no longer requires super removal.

If you did want to remove supers for treatment with OAV, the supers could be reinstalled shortly after treating. (you would not have a storage problem.)

This will be my third year beekeeping. I had two hives overwinter really well. one has been so full of bees that I stuck a honey super on it a few weeks ago to see if they would fill it. I peeked last week and most of the honey frames had a band of capped honey near the top and nectar below, on every/each frame.

My question is, when it comes time for me to split and do api life var what do I do with the honey frames if they aren’t capped enough? Won’t the nectar go bad?  Can I freeze them and put them back on when I add them during blackberry bloom?
    thanks!
